Budapest Wine Festival!
It’s grape time and the Budapest wine festival is the ultimate homage. An entire week focused on having a designated driver. But also way more ha ha. Wine culture and its unique atmosphere brings together locals and travellers; young and old; early birds and night owls… For one of the most iconic settings in Hungary.
A real dreamy location for a wine festival in budapest
The place is the Bor Fesztivál castle. An authentic postcard place. It’s that kind of place that lacks dragons to be a complete fairytale. It is celebrated on the terraces, on the patios and on the boulevard Budavari Palota.
You go for a drink and end up with the skyline of the Danube castle, with savory wines; delightful music that matches the skies of September… And everything guided by a master in its art, a proper sommelier from the Danube region.

The hours of wine
Do buy your ticket in advance; even consider putting an alarm for the early bird sale because they sell faster than Froccs in summer.
The schedule allows you to enjoy the festival both in the afternoon sunshine and at night, when the castle lights and the music paint a picture of renaissance in your memoire.
Getting in the wine festival
To get in, you can buy your bracelet before getting there. If you buy it online, the ticket must be changed with a physical item, a bracelet most probably, close by the entrance of the festival.
One thing that is a common mistake is to think that you have an open bar inside. That’s not how it works. First there is an entrance fee and then you pay for each glass in every stand.
Official Cup and other rules
What comes with the entrance are many things: shows, activities and the first drink. Just don’t lose your ticket. Everyone there will serve you just on the official cup, so don’t lose that either. Nor bring your glasses from home. We’ve seen things in previous seasons.
Inside, everything is paid with a credit card. And that’s it. no more rules. Have fun and wine!
Surprise, surprise; culture and Museums
Something that not everyone knows is that with this entrance, you also get a free entry to the Budapest History Museum. So that’s a thing to take advantage of.

Safe and sound
The organisation matches the scale of the Budapest Wine Festival, ensuring that thousands of visitors can move around the castle terraces safely. It’s an environment designed ( and it feels like it) for enjoyment, but also prepared for any unexpected situation. alwyas have in mind the rules about safe and on what to be careful in Budapest.
Extra tip: you can take your dog with a (mandatory) leash. But it is not recommendable because there will be drunk people and there might be broken crystals on the ground.
Every year worth and wortherer
The attendance at this festival is surprisingly high! Not surprisingly, but do expect a big crowd. Locals and expats love it; people come with friends, couples, and even family.
We recommend matching this top wine time with a top street time in Budapest. Joining our private pub crawl Budapest is the green flag option to do it.
